Thank you for the excellent commentary. I was completely taken by surprise by her persona, her attitude, etc.

Sad news; I hadn't heard. I didn't know most of the details about her career that you outlined here. not even her admiration of Rand or the fact that they met. Thank you for exploring these facets and sharing with us. I don't think I'll find such a fitting obituary for her anywhere else.

Very interesting she wanted to and did meet Ayn Rand! I obviously did not know that about her and I definitely had a boyhood crush on her!

I think so, too. The full oral history by Miss Welch about her interest in Ayn Rand is included in the “100 Voices” book to which I’ve linked (click/touch the ‘Ayn Rand Archives’). It’s a wonderful and telling memoir.

It’s interesting to realize that at least two of the world’s most beautiful and famous women had such interest in, and admiration for Ayn Rand - Marilyn Monroe and Raquel Welch. I enjoyed your article.

Thank you, Sharlee. I agree. I would add one more beautiful woman to your list—someone I also admire, who apparently was also very interested in Ayn Rand—Farrah Fawcett.

Outstanding, Scott. Raquel Welch was and has always been one of my most beautiful fantasies. Her thoughts about Ayn Rand brought a smile to my face. Again, your writing brings me great satisfaction. I just renewed my subscription for another year.
