First concert I ever 'attended' was a Burt Bacharach concert when I snuck up the back side of Red Rocks just outside Denver in the summer of 1972. What a treat, and I still have about a dozen of his songs on my top playlist today. By contrast I have two songs from the 21st century - both Katy Perry songs. I will really miss him like I have missed melodic music for several decades now. What a giant!

I agree, Russ.

Which two Perry songs—I have her on my playlist, too—and which are your favorite Burt Bacharach tunes?

Very well written.

Mr. Bacharach literally created a genre of music we know today as "Easy Listening".

His brilliance will be missed.

My goodness - the Bacharach songs may take awhile. The two Katy Perry songs are Firework and Teenage Dream. Here are the Bacharach songs and I probably won't list them all. I bought his greatest hits album many years ago, and there is probably only one or two I wouldn't put on my all time list.

I Say a Little Prayer, Walk On By (Isaac Hayes version), The Look of Love, Close to You, I'll Never Fall in Love Again, What Do You Get When You Fall in Love, What the World Needs Now Is Love, Alfie (hate the lyrics but love the music), This Guy's In Love With You, A House Is Not a Home, The Sundance Kid, Theme From Arthur, Raindrops Keep Fallin', On My Head, Wives and Lovers, One Less Bell to Answer, Always Something There To Remind Me and Magic Moments.

Amazingly I just found a list of 100 of his songs, and there are probably another dozen I could add. Truiy, truly amazing career.

I am envious that you actually met him.

It’s a highlight of my career. Don’t know if you read the ‘Po’ review with notes but I asked—and he eventually answered—a question. “One Less Bell…” and most of those songs evoke fond, distant and vital memories for me. Don’t know the Isaac Hayes version, so I’ll check that out. What a marvelous mind and way to deal with the turmoil of our times. I’m glad you found him, too. Cheers. P.S. Both those Katy Perry songs are on my list, too. Also, KP’s “Daisies”.
