Review June’s articles and preview July stories
The second part of my 30th anniversary series, 30 Years in the Press, posted this month. Autonomia (pronounced AUGHT-AWN-OH-MIA) published “The Interviews”, summarizing three decades of presidential campaign, movie and entertainment industry, news, war, literary and lost or unpublished interviews—including those with Nathaniel Branden, Debbie Harry and, at his New York City photography studio, American Ballet Theatre and fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo.
Mine’s an overview, not a complete summary of all of my interviews. Several key magazine and newspaper interviews, such as my conversation with Phil Donahue and other notable figures, including certain Autonomia subscribers, are not featured.
On Father’s Day, a fatherhood-themed movie review featuring a film with James Cagney as an introspective steel industrialist and Barbara Stanwyck as the principled adoption agency director who challenges him was posted for the paid subscriber in the Sunday with Barbara Stanwyck series. Other June topics include Woodrow Wilson’s nationalization of America’s individual state militias and the origins of the National Guard, the deaths of Tina Turner, Cormac McCarthy and the Unabomber and 2001’s Band of Brothers series on HBO.
