This month’s Autonomia introduced Liza Minnelli Movies to showcase a bright movie star of ability who’s alive. Other articles include three classic movies with popular music as integral to the characters and plots: Casablanca with its pop standard “As Times Goes By,” American Graffiti scored with rock and roll hits played by a AM radio DJ that evokes The Wizard of Oz and Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson crooning the poetic Western tune, “My Rifle, My Pony and Me” in Howard Hawks’ 1959 counterpoint to the anti-heroic High Noon—Rio Bravo starring John Wayne.
