Publisher Wins Golden Quill Award
Autonomia writer, editor and publisher Scott Holleran recognized for best sports journalism by the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania
The article on Roberto Clemente, which I wrote for Pittsburgh Quarterly’s 15th anniversary edition, “Why Did ‘the Great One’ Go Down?” was awarded for “excellence in written journalism.” I accepted the Golden Quill award from the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania last week at a ceremony in Pittsburgh.
The nearly 3,000-word article about the late Pittsburgh Pirates champion involved deep research and development. When the winner was announced, a presenter explained why the judges awarded my retrospective for Best Sports Journalism.
