Leonard Peikoff’s last lecture in Viennese operetta is a delight
Leonard Peikoff’s final lecture, “Viennese Operetta: My Virtual Reality,” held this summer in Southern California on a Saturday afternoon, affords pure delight. After a welcome reception, the author of Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand, The Ominous Parallels: The End of Freedom in America and The DIM Hypothesis: Why the Lights of the West Are Going Out delivered a glorious demonstration of his values and sense of life. The author and philosopher’s audio-visual display was followed by a closing reception.
Everything was light and cheerful. Indeed, the welcome reception featured waltzes by Johan Strauss selected by Leonard Peikoff, Ph.D., performed by the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra. The Objectivist lecture, event and social was presented by the institute Dr. Peikoff founded in Los Angeles and named after his friend and mentor, Ayn Rand, with whom he studied for 30 years.
