July’s free articles introduce a new series: Monday with Joel McCrea. The first article examines a picture he made with voluptuous Arlene Dahl. It’s one of McCrea’s Westerns. Add this movie star series to others, including Tuesday with Cary Grant, Wednesday with Greta Garbo, Thursday with Robert Redford, Friday with Fred Astaire and Sunday with Barbara Stanwyck. Some in these series are free to read.
Paid subscribers can look forward to an article about a recent film featuring Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List, Quiz Show, the Harry Potter movies) titled The White Crow. This new movie depicts Rudolf Nureyev’s historic defection from Soviet Russia in Paris on June 16, 1961. Read the recent book review of Nureyev’s ballet career following his escape from Communism here. Also look for a review of a father-son novel, a television series on John Adams and an article about my writing approach.
If you missed June’s articles, browse Autonomia here. Later this summer, look for another new feature: Travelogue. The first article, which includes pictures, will report on this writer’s recent weeklong visit to downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Comment, get more and look for travelogues this summer and in coming seasons from Pennsylvania, Texas and New England. Meanwhile, as always, think, read and live free.
