“In my America,” author and photographer Danny Lyon told a National Geographic photography seminar in 2014, “people were all different, they were handsome, and everything around them was beautiful. And most of all, they were free.” The Bikeriders, based on Lyon’s 1968 book of the same name, is dark, gritty and best viewed with Lyon’s unique perspective in mind.
