The police state gets Steven Spielberg’s attention in a big budget thriller released within months of the worst attack on the United States of America. In the aftermath of the Islamic jihadist attack, Black Tuesday, the U.S. government enacted historic government control of travel, association, assembly, exercise of free speech and life. As such, Mr. Spielberg’s movie, a major release by his studio, affords an opportunity to dramatize the premise of America’s republic, individual rights, during one of its most serious tests. Minority Report starring Tom Cruise merely jumbles notions and half-baked ideas.
