This motion picture studies a flat character. The character portrayed by Jack Nicholson is a drifter. He’s always worshipping whims. He has a job on an oil field with a friend with whom he scrapes in drunken bouts. The film makes it clear that he used to possess some artistic skill. This is the movie’s most interesting aspect.
