Thank you for exploring and celebrating the complexities of this still beguiling star on her centenary. The picture you chose is among the most gorgeous in capturing her appeal. Have you ever noticed that on film a part of her face is always in motion; whether it be her eyes, mouth, even her nose crinkling. I spoke with a potter in Connecticut a few years ago who was an acquaintance of Arthur Miller. He told me that Marilyn accompanied Miller to the studio a few times, and had it not been for the fact that he knew who she was, he never would have suspected that she was a movie star. She mostly sat by herself reading and was pretty shy. She was a striver, and a beautiful one at that. Happy Birthday Marilyn!
